Happy New Year! Have you started looking for your first home yet to beat the April tax credit deadline? First time buyers need to get looking as the competition for the best deals continues to be quite active.

Speaking of deadlines, you don't have to wait this year to file homestead exemption or portability. The deadline is March 1st, but applications are already being accepted. Other exemptions include widow/widower, senior, disability, veterans, agricultural, religious and charitable use exemptions. Be sure to check the requirements before filing.

Good news for homeowners trying to keep their primary residence. Recently the Florida Supreme Court issued an administrative order to require 3rd party mediation for new foreclosure lawsuits on primary residences. The order does not affect lawsuits that have already been filed prior to signing of the order. More details to come.
